3 Minutes

The project *3 Minutes* is an installation piece that combines sonic art, sculpture, and video art to explore how people recall negative memories and perceive time distortion. Using the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami as a reference, the installation converts interviewees' voices into cymatic waves and their heartbeats into quake-like movements.

I synchronized the intensity of the actual earthquake with the cymatic waves, layering the interviewees' voices that express their perceptions of the earthquake's duration.
